The Mindful Yogi Blog

Welcome to Samwanderer Yoga Blog, a sacred space where I, as a wanderer yogi, invite you to embark on a transformative journey with me.

Through my blog, I aim to share the wisdom I've gathered along the way, offering you a unique perspective on this ancient art.

Ujjayi Breath: A Powerful Technique To Express Your Unique Energy

The Ujjayi Breath, also called the Ocean's Breath, is a powerful pranayama technique that I adore. It helps me achieve balance and calm the fluctuation of my mind when I'm ruminating and overthinking too much with my brain. If I'm struggling with tension, when I get back to this technique, it immediately relieves me of heaviness in my mind, detoxifying me from the negative circles of thoughts. It is an easy but beneficial and precious technique you can recall whenever you need it in your daily moments. I love this technique because it also helps me to achieve a deep connection not only with my mind and body through the pranic energy that it conveys and due to the purifying action that it has but also because it has the immense great power of channeling your being with the surroundings, also contributing to finding outer balance with the external world.

When you inhale, you are taking the strength from God. When you exhale, it represents the service you are giving to the world. B. K. S. Iyengar

The pranic energy is the life force that everything moves in this world. We might think about the world as complex, multifaceted layers of energies interrelated between each other. Different layers convey forming a universal ancestral source of energy and vice-versa, from it derives particular forms of energy.

I like to think of myself as an infinite source of vibrancy in a unique and particular form. The body is the box in which to contain this fuel and also a tool in which I am able to perceive the world in a particular form, contributing by spreading my energy that belongs to the universe, but it's unique and unrepeatable.

Focusing on how we breathe through pranayama practice means taking care of our unique energy. Through these techniques, we can achieve a way to balance our body, mind, and soul and convey all of this energy, alchemically transforming it into creative power that might change the world.

The Ujjayi Breath is essential to rechanneling with nature, from which everything comes. Nature represents to me the pure manifestation of the pranic energy, that primordial root to which we all belong.

Contemporary society has caused a fracture between us and nature. The massive use of technology, if it has benefits that have improved our life, also exacerbates the distance we have from our roots in the world: Mother Nature.

So, what is Pranayama for me?

It's the most powerful way to stimulate my vital energy as an individual and create the conditions to spread it with my unique creative power. It allows me to reconnect to the universal form from which everything derives, which in my perspective, is represented by nature in this world, but on a large scale, derives from the universe.

If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees. — Rainer Maria Rilke
